Its no secret that rating for Lost have been slowly declining over season 3, enough so that ABC switched the time slot to 10:00pm EST so it wouldn't have to compete with American Idol and in the process missed the big picture. Ratings haven't been declining because of some crappy singing show that has been on the air for way to long for me to care, but instead its been declining because Lost makes no sense anymore.

Why do you say that, you might ask. Well lets break it down.

First you have the plane crash survivors who are the "good guys" then you have the others who are the "bad guys". But in 3 seasons we don't know why there fighting? Why are they fighting? I have no idea. In season 1 & 2 we knew very little about the others, so we could make up our own conclusions as to why they were fighting. Perhaps they wanted the people with special powers or maybe they were doing some sort of experiments or perhaps they were mercinaries and wanted to enact their control over them. They did take Walt and tried to kill the rest of the people on the boat after all, I could see mercenaries doing that. What ever reason you came up with, was good enough at the time. But now that we have had some serious time with the others, we see that most of them are just regular people, living somewhat regular lives. They have houses, play football, listen to music and read books. Why are they doing this to the survivors? WHY I SAY!?

If you have a good guy and a bad guy you can't make them fight just for the sake of fighting. There has to be a reason. But Lost provides NO reason. Any normal group of people would have rused to the beach to offer help and medical aid, but not the others, why?

Kate, Jack and Locke have all had serious time hanging out with the others, yet no one asks the most obvious questions. What are you doing on this island? Why are you doing this to us?

If Lost is going to have a season 4, they HAVE to answer at least this 1 question. Why are the others fighting with the survivors of the plane crash? This above all is the most important question, because without it the show falls apart. Theres no reason for the fighting and everything that happens because of it becomes pointless.
